Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. At the age five she relocated from London to Oxfordshire to attend the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford in which she learned acting as well as singing. When she was 10, she had already taken part in a variety of Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the film adaptation to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for the very first time back in the year 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was also the film that was most popular in 2001. Opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by critics and its performances by the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her outstanding performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of an Film.
